Juniper and Sage Decor has been a labor of love since the day we acquired it from our dear friend who was moving out of the country for her partner’s work. She was determined to see her beloved store be passed on to someone who would keep its spirit alive.
From the moment we took over the store, we knew we had big shoes to fill. Our friend had created a home decor haven where customers could find unique pieces that perfectly captured the essence of our community. We were determined to continue this tradition while also infusing our own creativity and vision into the store.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was sourcing unique and locally-made products. We scoured the island, attending networking events and joining local community groups, which helped us to connect with local artists and artisans who shared our passion for creating beautiful and sustainable home decor items. It was amazing to see the outpouring of support from our community as we embarked on this journey.
In addition to sourcing locally, we also introduced a line of loose leaf teas and essential oils. We had always been passionate about holistic wellness, and we wanted to share this passion with our customers. We carefully curated a collection of teas and oils that not only smelled and tasted amazing but also had therapeutic properties. It was incredibly rewarding to see our customers embrace this new addition to the store.
Of course, there were also bumps along the road. Starting a business is never easy, and we made our fair share of mistakes. However, we learned from each one and used them as opportunities to grow and improve. We were fortunate to have the support of our community, as well as the guidance of experienced business coaches who helped us navigate the challenges.
We want to express our gratitude to Community Futures for their financial support and business coaching. They believed in us and our vision for the store, and their assistance was invaluable in helping us get off the ground. Their guidance helped us to refine our business plan, create a solid financial foundation, and establish effective marketing strategies. Without their support, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
As we look to the future, we are excited to continue expanding our product offerings and growing our relationships with local artists and artisans. We hope to inspire others to support local businesses and to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. Juniper and Sage Decor is more than just a store to us – it is a representation of our community and the values we hold dear.
In conclusion, starting a business is never easy, but with passion, hard work, and the support of a community and organizations like Community Futures, it is possible to turn a dream into a reality. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow Juniper and Sage Decor and look forward to what the future holds.
